Ever since Call of Duty: Ghosts, the franchises sales have gone down, especially with the new instalment, Infinite Warfare, which apparently the sales have gone down by 50% compared to Black Ops III.

That is shocking and I’m sure Activision are panicking, they should be. I would be.

Call of Duty is developed by three different studios; Infinity Ward, Treyarch and new to the franchise, Sledgehammer Gamers (They helped with Modern Warfare 3) on a three year cycle, so there’s a new Call of Duty game a year.

Today I watched a video by NerosCinema titled “Should I Activison fire Infinity Ward!?” and he was discussing his opinions on what Activison should do. He said give Infinity Ward one more chance to create a good Call of Duty and allow them to return to their roots — modern shooters — most likely Modern Warfare 4.

This is a response to Nero’s video.

I agree, Infinity Ward should have one more chance and abandon the futuristic setting and return to the modern setting. Fans want another Modern Warfare instalment, Modern Warfare 4 and that includes me. I loved Modern Warfare 1–3 and 3 was my least favourite, you can tell a different team worked on it. You may or may not know, the studio team that created Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 left shortly after the release of Modern Warfare 2 and formed their own studio, Respawn Entertainment, the creators of Titanfall.

A Modern Warfare 4 would not be as good as the first two instalments because it will probably be the same team that was behind Ghosts and Infinite Warfare, but it would be a great step in the right direction. It would help boost sales, it would give fans hope and it would be giving the true fans want they have been crying out for since Ghosts.

I would also put pressure on Treyarch, Black Ops III was terrible, the campaign was garbage and the multiplayer was nothing special. If both of their next games have poor sales and a low player count, I would fire both Treyarch and Infinity Ward, and give Raven Software a chance to create their own Call of Duty.

Then there would be just two studio; Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games. I would change it from a yearly cycle to a year and a half cycle so every 18 months, you have a new Call of Duty game.

Advanced Warfare, created by Sledgehammer Games, wasn’t as bad as everyone made it out to be. It was just something we weren’t used to, it was their first solo game and they did very well.

I like to think Infinity Ward and Treyarch can come back from this and create a game they are both capable of creating. Only time will tell.
